The ACS Foundation launched the Women of STEM scholarship programme in 2022 to provide financial aid to young women, aged 17-20 entering their first year of a STEM related degree.
The Women of STEM scholarships provide successful applicants with AUD$5,000 per annum (maximum 5 years) and provide support to young women as they select and study STEM degrees at university and pursue careers in STEM related roles.
In 2024, ACS Foundation awarded scholarships to 5 young women around Australia (NSW, Victoria, South Australia & the ACT) and the scholarships were presented to the recipients at various BiG Day In events in relevant locations.
Women of STEM scholarships are made possible by both Corporate and private sponsors. It was inspiring to see young girls in the audience at BiG Day In events around Australia, witnessing high-achieving students being encouraged and motivated to pursue a career in a heavily male-dominated industry.
